“If you want to end the war, you’re gonna' have to sing louder” Country Joe McDonald
Well actually singing may build solidarity; it will not end the war. Neither will lip service nor campaign contributions from war profiteers. The illegal invasion and occupation of Iraq will end when we send a clear message to those who hold or seek office that they will be held accountable should they ignore the clear demands of the voters and immediately move to end the carnage. What Can We Do? Do not accept promises that something will be done tomorrow! Take Control! This will take real commitment and understanding and frankly, have you seen either from our leaders to this point? Do you honestly expect to see it in the near future? If you want your rights you have to claim them, if we want peace then we will have to do it. It’s not enough for our elected leaders to tell us they feel our pain, know where we’re coming from or that they are reaching out to us. It is time for us to take control of our affairs and do it ourselves. It is time that we elect ourselves to office! What Can You Do? Vote for peace! Search out candidates everywhere who support the unequivocal, immediate end to the occupation. Support them voluntarily and financially at the national, state and local level. Do not accept anything less than immediate action! What I Will Do. As a conscientious objector and Vietnam-era draft resistor I am committed to the principles of non-violent non-cooperation in the resolution of conflict. Peace and freedom can only be won in this manner. As the Green Party candidate for the Ohio Senate, District 20 I will campaign on this issue as a priority and if elected I pledge immediate action to introduce legislation to recall the Ohio National Guard…..period! Tough financial decisions will have to be made and I will support our responsibility for reconstruction in Iraq. Peace and Solidarity!
THANKS! Thanks to the residents of Bethel Township,
Monroe County for the cordial welcome we received on Saturday, June
14. These photos are from the Bethel Township Fire Dept. fundraiser
carnival and parade. Bethel Township is very rural with few
businesses for tax support and relies heavily on these fundraisers
to provide fire and EMS protection for residents, farmers and
business. I particularly enjoyed meeting folks in this setting which
afforded me an opportunity to introduce myself to our hard-working
neighbors in the district. The major concerns I heard expressed
related to healthcare, jobs, responsive representation and
